Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined

Online throughout Victoria

2020 was the Victoria Seniors Festival’s 38th year. It also marked the year of COVID-19 in which Melbourne and Victoria had the longest lockdown in the world.

Reimagined was created as a year long online arts festival for older Victorians, using only artists mobile phone during lockdown.

About

The Victorian Seniors Festival is a major state-wide festival for and involving seniors, with an emphasis on fun and good times that takes place every October right across Victoria. This major state-wide festival for Victorians over 60 focuses on providing free or low-cost events and activities, across the month of October, designed to bring seniors together to enjoy themselves, learn new skills and make new friends.

In 2020, Guest Creative Directors Tristan Meecham and Bec Reid reimagined Victorian Seniors Festival during COVID-19 bringing it straight to Senior’s homes through online performances, zoom interviews and story-telling. Working to social distancing rules, and Bec meet performers from all over Victoria and Australia in the comfort of their own homes recorded on artist’s telephone.

Each week new videos were published online and over 120 films were made by the artist with All The Queens Men throughout 2020. We’ve had a lot of fun creating and reimagining the Festival for you, and we hope you enjoy it – and sing along!
